Fancy yarns are also termed novelty yarns, specialty yarns, effect yarns and fashion-oriented yarns, and can incorporate deliberate ‘defects’ or variations distributed randomly or in a pre-defined order, along with colour to give visually and texturally attractive difference to the fabric. Colour effects along the yarn length are introduced by twisting different coloured yarns, spinning blended dyed fibres, or by irregularly printing/dyeing spun yarns.
