What is the primary purpose of decanting?
Decanting enhances the wine's aromas and flavor. The pouring of wine from the bottle into a decanter introduces oxygen to the wine, allowing it to "breathe." The addition of air to the equation allows the wine's aromas to fully express themselves and the wine's unique flavors to knit and come forward.

The bowl and screw make high-speed rotation with a certain differential speed between them. The materials enter the bowl from the feed tube. Under centrifugal force, the liquid of higher specific weight accumulates on the inner walls of the bowl and is discharged through the centripetal pump or overflow plate. The liquids of lower specific weight form an inner liquid ring, stick to the surfaces of heavy liquids, and are discharged from the overflow channel. The spiral material pusher continuously pushes solids to the taper end of the bowl where they are discharged from the residue outlet after going through the drying area.
