NPR Piston Ring Set Installation Guide
I. Piston Ring Installation Sequence
- Thoroughly clean all ring grooves of the piston
- Install the oil control ring followed by compression rings in ascending order using a proper ring tool
- Ensure all rings are fitted with marked faces upward and toward the top of the piston
II. Installation Verification
- Confirm rings move freely without jamming in the piston grooves
- Ensure ring gaps are not positioned in line with piston pin axis or thrust direction
III. Piston Assembly Installation
Always use an appropriate installation tool when inserting the piston assembly into the cylinder.
Special Instructions for NPR NIFFLEX Oil Ring
- Fit the expander of the NIFFLEX oil ring into the ring groove by hand, ensuring the ends butt together properly
- Hold the expander at its butt ends with your thumb. Fit the upper rail onto the expander with its gap approximately 45° to the left, and the lower rail approximately 45° to the right of the expander ends
