Intended Use

The HMEF is designed to retain water in the patient's exhaled breath.
The upper airway is bypassed by an artificial airway that eliminates the patient's natural ability to filter, heat, and moisten inhaled air. HMEF's mediators work similarly to a person's upper airway in that when they exhale, the mediators capture and retain moisture and temperature in the exhaled air that would otherwise be lost.
