Rose Gold Flat Sapphire Lens Protector Sapphire Watch Crystal
Properties of Sapphire Glass:
Optical crystals are used as viewports to protect other components within an optical assembly, instrument, or laser. In certain applications, optical crystals are required to withstand harsh environmental conditions and provide high levels of performance and reliability. Sapphire crystal has several unique properties that make it the ideal material for these applications.
Sapphire is a single crystal aluminum oxide (Al2O3). It is one of the hardest materials.
Most sapphire glass found in wristwatches is actually synthetic (man-made) sapphire, rather than the naturally occurring material you may be familiar with. As with acrylic, this isn’t technically ‘glass’, rather, transparent crystallised Aluminium Oxide; usually produced in a laboratory. You will struggle to scratch a sapphire crystal with anything other than a piece of diamond.
(Diamond measures 10, the highest rating.)
