What is sapphire?
SAPPHIRE glass (SAPPHIRE CRYSTAL) generally refers to artificial SAPPHIRE, and people usually understand the jewelry - natural SAPPHIRE has a great difference, generally used in the manufacture of watch mirror.
It is a wear-resistant material with tungsten titanium alloy and high-tech ceramics.
Although these materials can resist wear, but can not withstand strong impact, and some of the same or higher hardness of materials (such as: grindstone, sandpaper, nail files, granite surface, concrete walls and floors, etc.) are likely to scratch the surface of these materials.
Sapphire is the general name of corundum gem in addition to red ruby, other colors of corundum gem, the main component is alumina (Al2O3).
Sapphire glass refers to synthetic sapphires that can be easily and cheaply produced in the laboratory as gem-grade sapphires with the same chemical composition and physical properties as natural sapphires..

Sapphire Windows are manufactured from single crystal sapphire, making them ideal for demanding applications (such as laser systems) because of their extreme surface hardness, high thermal conductivity, high dielectric constant and resistance to common chemical acids and alkalis. Sapphire is the second hardest crystal next to diamonds and, because of their structural strength, sapphire windows can be made much thinner than other common dielectric windows with improved transmittance. Chemically, sapphire is single crystal aluminum oxide (Al2O3), and is useful in a transmission range from 0.2 - 5.5µm
