Product Description
Engineer-to-order MVR (Mechanical Vapor Recompression) falling-film vacuum evaporator designed for industrial wastewater treatment. Thin-film boiling under vacuum protects heat-sensitive streams while recompressed vapor duty recycles latent heat to deliver low operating costs, deep concentration, and stable 24/7 operation.
MVR falling-film vacuum evaporator system for industrial wastewater treatment and zero liquid discharge
Key Benefits
Energy Efficiency
Electric-driven MVR minimizes fresh steam consumption after start-up
High Recovery Rate
Concentrates high-TDS/COD brines; enables chemical desalination and salt recovery
Product Protection
Low temperature differential falling film limits thermal degradation and foaming
Scaling Control
Optimized temperature control, uniform film distributors, antiscalant dosing, and CIP-ready design
Automated Operation
PLC/HMI recipes, alarms, historian, and remote diagnostics for 24/7 uptime
Process Technology
Secondary vapor is mechanically compressed to raise saturation temperature and reused as the heating medium. Even film distribution over vertical exchangers maintains high heat-transfer coefficients while controlled residence time, pressure, and temperature setpoints deliver predictable concentration with low specific energy consumption.
Materials & Construction
Wetted parts constructed in SS316L/duplex stainless steel (titanium/Hastelloy optional). Drainable layouts, large access for inspection, validated CIP systems, and elastomer selections suited to chlorides, solvents, acids, and alkalis.
Process Flow Overview
Process flow diagram showing wastewater treatment from feed conditioning through evaporation to zero liquid discharge
  • Feed conditioning: Screening/filtration, softening or pH adjustment; antiscalant for calcium/magnesium/silicon control
  • MVR falling film evaporation: VFD compressor sets temperature differential; shell vacuum defines boiling point
  • Condensate polishing: Filters/RO/activated carbon to meet reuse or discharge specifications
  • Crystallization & solids handling: DTB/OSLO or forced circulation crystallizer to centrifuge/dryer for compliant solids discharge
  • Automation: Start/stop recipes, load following via VFD, scheduled cleaning windows
Key Components
  • Falling-film evaporator body with film distributors and vapor-liquid separator
  • MVR mechanical vapor compressor (turbo/Roots) with VFD for temperature/capacity control
  • Surface condenser, vacuum/non-condensable gas handling, preheaters/heat-recovery exchangers
  • PLC/HMI/SCADA control system; instrumentation with data historian
  • CIP skid; antiscalant dosing; optional condensate polishing filters/RO

Frequently Asked Questions
Can it integrate with existing membrane systems for ZLD?
Yes - RO/NF pre-concentration upstream with MVR + crystallizer downstream is a proven zero liquid discharge configuration.
How is scaling managed on difficult brines?
Pretreatment, optimized film temperature/velocity, antiscalant dosing, and scheduled cleaning based on online fouling indicators.
What condensate quality is achievable?
Low conductivity/TOC suitable for reuse after polishing; quality monitoring ensures compliance with site limits.
Applications
Industrial applications including wastewater concentration, chemical desalination, and zero liquid discharge
Industrial wastewater concentration, chemical desalination processes, and zero liquid discharge systems for various manufacturing sectors.
