DSS2205 MVR Evaporator Horizontal Tube Evaporator 5T/HR For NaCl
Duplex stainless steel DSS2205 MVR horizontal-tube evaporator engineered for NaCl brine concentration and crystallization at a nominal 5 t/h water removal. Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVR) recycles latent heat to minimize steam consumption while horizontal calandrias provide robust heat transfer for saline, scaling-prone service.
- Corrosion & stress resistance: DSS2205 duplex resists chloride stress corrosion cracking better than 304/316L.
- Energy saving: Electric-driven MVR duty delivers low OPEX and small utility footprint.
- Scaling mitigation: High-velocity circulation across horizontal tubes maintains coefficients and limits deposition.
- Crystal quality: Controlled supersaturation/residence time supports tight NaCl PSD and low moisture.
- Continuous automation: PLC/HMI recipes, alarms, historian, and remote diagnostics for 24/7 uptime.
Clarified brine is concentrated under vacuum. The MVR compressor elevates vapor temperature/pressure and reuses it as the primary heating medium in the horizontal-tube calandria. Optimized Δ T/LMTD, circulation rate, and slurry density stabilize supersaturation for predictable NaCl crystallization at low specific energy.
Wetted parts: DSS2205 (UNS S32205/S31803). Options: super duplex, SS316L, or Ti for special chemistries. Drainable layouts, smooth finishes, and CIP provision support long campaigns and fast turnarounds.
- DSS2205 horizontal-tube heater (straight/U-tube bundle) with vapor-liquid separator
- MVR compressor (turbo/Roots) with VFD for ΔT/capacity control
- Preheaters, surface condenser, vacuum/NCG handling skid
- Crystallizer with slurry density control; centrifuge; dryer; screeners
- PLC/HMI/SCADA; instruments (T/P/flow/conductivity/level); CIP skid & antiscalant dosing
| Parameter | Typical Target / Range* |
|---|---|
| Evaporation rate | 5 t/h (water removal), adjustable via compressor VFD |
| Operating mode | Vacuum, continuous |
| Electric use (MVR) | ~15-40 kWh per ton H₂O evaporated (duty/CR dependent) |
| Fresh steam demand | Very low after start-up (backup/ancillary only) |
| Crystal size bands | Fine 0.2-0.5 mm; Table 0.5-1.2 mm; Coarse 1.2-2.5 mm |
| Materials | DSS2205 wetted; super duplex/316L/Ti optional |
Duplex metallurgy offers higher chloride SCC resistance and strength, enabling thinner walls and better lifecycle in saline duty.
Yes--commonly paired with RO/NF upstream and crystallizer/centrifuge/dryer downstream for solids discharge.
Proper softening/pH control, optimized ΔT/velocity, antiscalant dosing, and scheduled CIP maintain high heat-transfer rates.
