  • Test & Fixture: Short‑life test jig internal interconnection

Customer Selection & Design Guide

Before you select this part

  1. Confirm contact direction: This is Down‑Contact. FPC conductive pads must face toward the PCB side when inserting. If your FPC pads face upward, you need the Top‑Contact variant. Wrong contact direction leads to zero electrical connection.
  2. Mechanical clearance check:
    • Vertical space: Reserve ≥1.1 mm clearance above connector after assembly to avoid housing pressing flip actuator.
    • Front‑rear space: Confirm under‑flip actuator has enough rear‑side moving space for lock‑open action.
  3. FPC specification lock‑in: Must use FPC/FFC thickness 0.30 mm ±0.03 mm. Too‑thin FPC causes insufficient retention; too‑thick FPC will damage lock and contact beams.
  4. Electrical derating rule: For long‑time continuous operation, run each contact ≤0.35 A; do not apply the full 0.5 A rated current.
  5. PCB footprint: Use our official 2D drawing footprint; do not copy the footprint from other vendors' similar parts; minor dimensional differences will cause soldering failure.
  6. Application limitation: This connector is optimized for low‑mid speed single‑ended signal. If you need high‑speed video/data transmission, please contact our engineering team for an upgraded model recommendation.

Ordering tips for procurement

  • Sample order: Support small-quantity samples for prototype validation.
  • Mass production: Default packing is tape‑and‑reel. Specify if you need tray packing.
  • Custom request: Submit your requirements for gold plating thickness, halogen‑free, alternative pin‑count.

FAQ

Q1: What happens if I insert FPC with pads facing upward on this down‑contact connector?

A1: No electrical connection will be achieved. Physical insertion is possible, but the circuit cannot conduct. Always double‑check FPC pad orientation against the datasheet drawing before PCB prototype build.

Q2: Can this connector work after two times reflow soldering?

A2: Yes, a maximum 2 lead‑free reflow cycles are allowed following our reflow profile. More than twice reflow may deform the LCP housing and degrade contact performance. Avoid repeated hot rework on the assembled unit.

Q3: My end‑product faces a high-vibration environment, will FPC get loose?

A3: The under‑lock mechanism provides decent retention. For extreme vibration scenarios, we suggest adding a mechanical strain‑relief design on the FPC cable in your PCB layout, or select a higher retention‑force upgraded version.

Q4: Can I use this connector for USB, HDMI or high‑speed display signal?

A4: Not recommended. This is a general‑purpose low-to-mid-speed signal FPC connector without controlled‑impedance terminal design. For high‑speed interfaces, please ask our engineer for a dedicated high‑speed FPC series.

Q5: Actuator flip lock is broken after assembly, what are possible causes?

A5: Common root causes:
  1. Insert over‑thick FPC and forced close lock;
  2. Wrong operation: push actuator with a sharp tool;
  3. Mechanical interference from product housing squeezing flip part. Follow the datasheet insertion procedure: insert the FPC flat and horizontal, then close the flip lock gently until hearing clear click sound.

Q6: Do you offer equivalent replacement for Hirose / TE / Kyocera part numbers?

A6: Yes, provide your competitor part number, and our engineering team will cross‑check dimensions, contact direction, lock type, and electrical parameters to confirm a drop‑in compatible alternative.

Q7: What documents can you provide for evaluation?

A7: Datasheet, 2D dimension drawing, 3D STEP model, RoHS‑REACH test report, mechanical‑electrical lab test summary report.
