Surface Treatment/Finishes:
* **Passivation (Standard):** Essential chemical process removing free iron particles and enhancing the natural chromium oxide layer for maximum corrosion resistance.
* **Electropolishing:** Optional premium finish. Removes surface micro-imperfections, further enhances corrosion resistance, improves cleanability (ideal for marine/food contact areas), and provides a smooth, bright appearance.
* **Plain Mill Finish (2B):** Standard rolled finish after passivation. Functional and corrosion-resistant.
How to Use:
1. **Pre-drill:** Crucial for stainless steel in wood to prevent galling/seizing and ensure smooth driving. Drill a pilot hole slightly smaller than the screw's shank diameter. **Use sharp drill bits!** For self-drilling points (Tek), pre-drilling may be reduced/eliminated in softer woods or thin metal overlays.
2. **Lubricate:** Apply a **stainless steel specific anti-seize compound** (e.g., nickel-based) to the threads to drastically reduce friction and prevent galling (thread cold-welding).
3. **Align & Drive:** Insert screw, ensuring square neck engages properly. Use the **correct Torx bit** (e.g., T25 for M8). Drive at **moderate speed** with consistent pressure. Avoid excessive RPMs which cause heat and increase galling risk. Ensure the driver bit is fully seated and in good condition.
