When is your baby ready for a cup?
1.When your baby learns to eat solids at 6 months, it's fine to practice drinking from a cup without a lid. Teaching your baby to take sips from a cup now makes it easier to transition from breast or bottle down the road, plus it helps them develop important fine motor skills and coordination.
2.Switching from bottle to cup takes time and practice, instantly get one of these open cups and give it a try! Comes with a lid and a silicone straw, if you prefer, you could also turn it into a straw cup. Note that the lid is only 90% spill proof - when laid sideways, water can leak out when the cup is very full.
Getting started with an open cup
Before you start, use these tips to help your baby learn this important new skill:
1. Expect spills. Minimize the mess by putting just a few sips of water in the cup to start with. Remember, breastmilk or formula still provides nearly all the hydration baby needs, but a few sips of water at meals is good for practice.
2. Help hold the cup. When they're ready and willing, hold the cup with them and gently guide it to their mouth so they can try a few sips.
3. Be patient. If they push the cup away or seem uninterested, don’t worry. Your baby is telling you they've had enough practice for now. Take a break, and try again at a later meal.
READ BEFORE ORDER
Hello Mamas & Daddies! PLEASE NOTE that this is a baby open cup instead of tight-sealed baby cup - the open cup takes a leading role, the lid and straw is only to provide assistance.
NOTE that the lid is only 90% spill proof as it is not tight-sealed - when laid sideways, water can leak out when the cup is very full.
