Description

Platinum black, an extremely fine black noble metal platinum powder containing more than 99 % platinum. Platinum asbestos is obtained by immersing it in chloroplatinic acid or a solution of chloroplatinic acid and burning it. Platinum black or platinum asbestos can be used as catalysts in many gases, especially hydrogen. With the development of hydrogen energy, platinum black's excellent catalytic effect, strong hydrogen absorption capacity and electric conductivity determine the importance of platinum black in the development of hydrogen energy.

Platinum on carbon is used for catalytic hydrogenations in organic synthesis. Examples include carbonyl reduction, nitro compound reduction, secondary amine production via nitrile reduction, and the production of saturated heterocycles from their respective aromatic compound precursors.
