Ferrotitanium is an iron alloy predominantly composed of titanium and iron, with additional elements such as aluminum, silicon, carbon, sulfur, phosphorus, and manganese. It serves as a deoxidizer, desulfurizer, degasser, and alloying agent in steelmaking. When added to steel as an alloying element, ferrotitanium refines the grain structure, fixes interstitial elements (carbon and nitrogen), and enhances the strength of the steel.
Based on titanium content, ferrotitanium is primarily categorized into three grades: FeTi30 (containing 25.0% to 35.0% Ti, Al < 8.5%, Si < 5.0%), FeTi40 (containing 35.0% to 45.0% Ti, Al < 9.5%, Si < 4.0%), and FeTi70 (containing 65% to 75% Ti, Al 0.5% to 5%, Si < 0.5%). Additionally, various titanium-based composite alloys, such as Ti-Si-Fe, Ti-B-Al-V, Ti-B-Al-Cr, Ti-Al, Ni-Ti-Al, Ti-B-Al, Ti-Cr-Al, are used as titanium additives.
