Carbon-Thermal Reduction:
Involves using coke as a reducing agent and lime as a flux in a small electric furnace.
Produces high-carbon ferrotitanium with high levels of titanium, carbon, silicon, and aluminum.
To reduce carbon content, silica can be added to the charge.
By adding alumina, Ti-Al-Si-Fe composite alloys can be produced.
