Abnormal Phenomena in Ferrotitanium Smelting
Moisture in the charge causes boiling, uneven gas escape, and excessive material ejection. The use of magnesite containing moisture for sand holes can also lead to material ejection.
Non-uniform mixing of the charge results in uneven smelting.
Low unit heat input leads to slow reactions, prolonged smelting time, insufficient reductant, low heat generation, or low preheating temperature of the charge, resulting in a cold process. This can cause excessive slag adhesion at the bottom of the ingot, high iron content in the slag, poor fusion of the ingot, looseness, or slag inclusions.
High unit heat input or high preheating temperature results in violent reactions, slag agitation, slag splashing, hard and difficult-to-break ingots, high aluminum content in the ingots, and reduced yield.
