The uses of low-carbon ferrochrome and high-carbon ferrochrome
The smelting methods of low-carbon ferrochrome include electric silicon heating method, hot exchange method, etc. It is mainly used to improve the oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance of steel, so that a layer of strongly attached oxide film is formed on the surface of the steel in an oxidizing atmosphere, and then the oxidation stops or the oxidation rate slows down. Micro-carbon ferrochrome is mainly used to produce stainless steel, wear-resistant and heat-resistant steel.
The main uses of high-carbon ferrochrome (including re-chromium) are: 1. It is used as an alloying agent for high-carbon circulating ball steel, tool steel and high-speed steel to improve the hardenability of steel and increase the wear resistance and hardness of steel.
2. It is used as an additive for cast iron to improve the wear resistance and hardness of cast iron, and at the same time make cast iron have good heat resistance;
3. It is used as a slag-free method to produce silicon-chromium alloy and medium, low and micro-carbon ferrochrome and chromium-containing raw materials;
4. It is used as a chromium-containing raw material for the electrolytic production of metallic chromium;
5. It is used as a raw material for smelting stainless steel by oxygen blowing.
