Comprising iron and silicon (typically 50-70% Si), these lumps withstand harsh processing conditions--high temperatures, mechanical stress--during smelting or refining, ensuring minimal breakdown.
In ferroalloy production, they act as feedstock for manufacturing higher-grade alloys (e.g., FeSi 75), leveraging their silicon content to adjust final alloy ratios efficiently. For steel refining, they function as deoxidizers and alloying agents: added to ladles or furnaces, they remove oxygen and sulfur, refining steel's cleanliness and mechanical properties.
