Product Description
Iron Vanadium Alloy FeV70 & FeV80
High-vanadium ferroalloys used as alloying additives in steel manufacturing and selected wear-resistant alloy applications. Vanadium contributes to grain refinement, precipitation strengthening, hardness and wear-related properties when incorporated into appropriately designed steel compositions.
Product Benefits
- High Vanadium Concentration: FeV70 (≥70% V) and FeV80 (≥80% V) allow controlled vanadium additions
- Steel Strengthening: Supports precipitation strengthening and grain refinement
- Wear Resistance: Suitable for applications requiring hardness and mechanical wear resistance
- Efficient Alloy Addition: Higher concentration reduces required ferrovanadium quantity
- Specification-Based: Selection based on steel grade, target V content, and process requirements

How Vanadium Strengthens Steel
Vanadium combines with carbon and nitrogen to form fine precipitates during thermal processing, contributing to:
- Precipitation strengthening
- Grain refinement
- Increased hardness
- Increased yield strength
- Microstructural control
The strengthening effect depends on complete steel composition, vanadium level, carbon and nitrogen content, cooling conditions and heat treatment.
Grade Comparison: FeV70 vs FeV80
| Factor | FeV70 | FeV80 |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum V Content | ≥70% | ≥80% |
| V Concentration | High | Higher |
| Addition Quantity for Same V Target | Relatively Higher | Relatively Lower |
Example: 1 kg FeV70 contains ≥0.70 kg V, while 1 kg FeV80 contains ≥0.80 kg V. Actual calculations should account for vanadium recovery and melting conditions.
