TIPS:

When the wheel encounters a bumpy road and causes the spring to compress and stretch, the energy of

the spring is transferred to the shock absorber through the upper support, and is transferred down to the

piston via the piston rod. The piston is punched with holes. When the piston moves up and down in the

pressure cylinder, hydraulic oil can leak out through these small holes. Because these holes are very small,

only a small amount of hydraulic oil can pass through under high pressure. This slows down the movement

speed of the piston, thereby slowing down the movement of the spring.

The work of the shock absorber includes two cycles-a compression cycle and a tension cycle. The

compression cycle refers to the compression of the hydraulic oil below the piston when it moves down;

the stretching cycle refers to the hydraulic oil above it when the piston moves up to the top of the pressure

cylinder. For a typical car or light truck, the resistance of the tension cycle is greater than the resistance of

the compression cycle. Also note that the compression cycle controls the movement of the unsprung mass

of the vehicle, while the tension cycle controls the movement of the heavier sprung mass.

All modern shock absorbers have a speed sensing function-the faster the suspension moves, the greater

the resistance provided by the shock absorber. This allows the shock absorber to be adjusted according to

road conditions and control all undesirable movements that may occur in the driving vehicle, including

bounce, roll, brake, dive, and accelerated crouching.
