Welded wire mesh specifications are commonly used in a wide array of industrial and non-industrial applications, including animal caging, critter and varmint control, agricultural use, air vents, basket fabrication, food applications, aviary and bird screen, industrial separation fan and machine guards, security retention, basket fabrication, industrial separation and soffit screens.

It is important to distinguish between T-304 stainless steel and T-316 stainless steel. T-304 stainless steel is more popular and more widespread in it use, while T-316 stainless steel is generally reserved for marine environments as it offers a higher resistance to corrosion.
Welded wire mesh is available in carbon steel, stainless steel, and various other alloys, when available. Carbon steel welded wire mesh can be supplied as plain (mill) finish, hot-dipped galvanized, and painted certain colors (upon request).
