Welded Steel Grating Introduction:
Welded steel bar grating is the most popular of all grating types due to its strength, cost-efficient production and ease of installation. Welded bar grating is resistance welded to create a rugged, one-piece constructed panel. Standard panels are 2′, 3′ or 4′ wide by 20′ or 24′ long. Bearing bars are spaced 1-3/16″ (19 space) through 7/16″ (7 space).
Standard bar thicknesses are 1/8″ and 3/16″. Qijie fabricates grating into specific widths, lengths, curved shapes, incorporates hinged panels, and different finishes to meet project requirements.
Press-Locked Grating is specified due to its clean, smooth look as well as supporting the same loads as welded bar grating though not recommended for rolling loads. Press-Locked is formed using tremendous hydraulic pressure to bond the two close-tolerance slotted bars together, permanently locking the cross bars into the notched bearing bars. Bar spacings range from 1-3/16″ (19 space) through 7/16″ (7 space) with bar depths upto 2-1/2″ and lengths upto 20′ Press-Locked grating is fabricated to meet project requirements.
Aluminum grating has many applications due to it corrosin resistance, light weight, and high strength construction. Swage-Locked grating uses the swaging jprocess to permanently lock cross rods and bearing bars into position.
Bar depths range upto 2-1/2″.
Heavy Duty Welded Bar Grating is designed for industrial rolling loads. It is sturdy and can carry heavy loads and maintain high levels of use over many years. Heavy Duty Grating is resistance welded for durability, strength, and safety. Standard widths are 2′, 3′, and 4′ in 20′ lengths. Standard bearing bars are 1/4″, 5/16″, and 3/8″ thick. Bars range from 1″ through 8″ deep allowing AMICO to fabricate unique shapes and sizes for trench drains to large expanses requiring grating to support the heaviest rolling equipment.
Riveted Grating is the first choice when greater rolling loads are required. Reticulated bars are riveted to bearing bars permitting a higher resistance to buckling caused by vehicular rolling traffic.
Compared to welded bar or swage-locked grating, riveted has greater load carrying capacity for the same span and depth of grating. Qijie can match your existing riveted grating when replacing or expanding the installation. Heavy duty bar sizes and or widths can be special ordered.
Qijie manufactures and fabricates welded bar, safety plank and fiberglass reinforced plastic, (FRP) to conform with the Association of American Railroad, (AAR) specifications.
Grating for railroads is designed and engineered to meet specifications for running boards, dome platforms, break steps and crossover platforms.

The excellent self-cleaning characteristics of plain surface grating make it suitable for the majority of applications. In the presence of fluids or materials that could cause the top surface of the grating to become wet or slippery, specification of the optional serrated surface should be considered. When serrated grating is specified, the bearing bar depth must be 1/4″ greater than the sizes shown on the load tables to provide the equivalent strength of non-serrated gratings.
