A588 is a low-alloy, high-strength HSLA steel plate that is frequently used in structural applications, such as bridges and buildings. Due to its stronger resistance to corrosion, it outperforms A572 in weathering and is thus more frequently used in projects exposed to challenging outdoor environments.
