EN 10025 S235JR material (1.0038 steel) is a hot rolled non-alloy structural steel grade that meets European standards. It possesses high plasticity, toughness, and weldability, as well as some strength and cold bending qualities. Please consult the tables below for specifications, datasheets, and equivalents.
S235JR material significance (designation):
“S” is short for structural steel;
“235” refers to the minimum yield strength (MPa) for the steel thickness ≤ 16mm;
“JR” indicates the quality grade related to charpy impact test energy value ≥ 27 J, at room temperature 20℃;
“C” means the material is suitable for cold flanging, cold bending, cold forming or cold drawing, e.g. S235JRC (1.0122).
1.0038 is the steel number of this steel.
The following are the general delivery criteria for carbon steel S235JR:
+AR denotes "as-rolled" delivery without special rolling and/or heat treatment.
+N denotes "normalized or normalized formed."
"thermomechanically formed - TMCP" is denoted by +M.
The "cold work hardened" symbol is +C.
+A indicates that the material has been soft annealed.
+AT indicates that the steel has been solution annealed.
Example 1: The steel name is S235JR+AR (1.0038+AR) or S235JR+N (1.0038+N) when the delivery condition is as-rolled or normalized.
S235JRC steel, for example, indicates that the material is appropriate for cold flanging, cold bending, cold forming, or cold drawing.
Example 3: If S235JRC steel is delivered cold work hardened, it is referred to as S235JRC+C (1.0122+C).
