The lightning rod was renamed because the previous name was not scientific and did not reflect the principle of the lightning rod. When the lightning rod first appeared in China, it was thought to prevent houses from being struck by lightning, so it was called a lightning rod. In fact, however, lightning rods do not protect buildings by preventing houses from being struck by lightning, but by directing the lightning upwards and then directing the lightning current underground through its lead wires and earthing devices. It is for this reason that it has also been suggested that lightning rods should be renamed lightning rods, but on the whole the name lightning rod is still the most apt.

When the lightning rod is cut off by lightning, the main body of the receiver receives the lightning, through the lightning waveform processing device, using the shell and the 3mm gap between the central grounding rod, constituting a coupling capacitor, while the shell through the inductive coil grounding (central grounding rod) when the downstream lead flash close, due to the high frequency, the inductive coil is in an open circuit state. The capacitor presents a short-circuit characteristic for high frequencies, so that under the action of the coupling capacitor, the electric field strength on the surface of the flash catcher increases rapidly until the avalanche process is triggered, thus allowing the lightning current to be released to the ground in an instant, effectively achieving lightning safety.
