When worm like irregular cracks, hot spots, deep scratches appear on the brake surface of the brake disc, or the score on one side is lower than the minimum thickness (min THK), the brake disc must be replaced.

Care must be taken when replacing the brake disc:

1. Remove the brake caliper completely. If possible, try not to separate the brake caliper from the hydraulic line (see Figure 2-3), otherwise the hydraulic fluid of the brake system will be discharged during the final process of replacing the brake disc

2. Avoid pulling the brake hose

3. Ensure that the connecting plate is clean and free of burrs and scratches. Check the runout, usually the maximum runout is 0.02mm. The wheel bearing shall be free of creep marks and damage

4. Clean the brake surface of the stripping disc with a suitable cleaner and remove the antirust oil. If the protective film of the brake surface is not cleaned, the braking effect will be weakened

5. Ensure proper and constant torque during installation, and pay attention to the rotation direction of double disc (disc with existing ventilation slot)

6. Check the runout of the stripping disc, which is usually 0.09m1. If the runout is out of tolerance, remove the brake disc, install it again and check it again

7. When installing the wheel, do not use oil on the shaft, tighten it evenly and crosswise, or use specific torque to tighten it in two stages (clockwise)

The advantages of disc brake are as follows:

1. The heat dissipation of disc brake is better than that of drum brake. When continuously stepping on the brake, it will not cause brake recession and brake failure

2. The thermal expansion of the brake disc along the thickness direction is very small, and the change of size after heating does not increase the stroke of stepping on the brake pedal

3. The disc brake system has fast response and can do high-frequency braking action, so it is more in line with the requirements of ABS system;

4. Disc brake has no friction potential effect of drum brake, so the braking force of left and right wheels is relatively average;

5. Due to the better drainage of the brake disc, the poor braking caused by water or sediment can be reduced;

6. Compared with the drum brake, the disc brake has simple structure, easy to realize automatic clearance adjustment and easy maintenance.

The brake discs on the same axle shall be replaced at the same time.

Step on the brake pedal a few times before driving, and it is a running in point within 200 km after replacing the brake disc (brake pad), so it is necessary to avoid emergency braking

When changing the brake pad, check the thickness of the brake disc

Check the brake fluid every 20000 km or every two years

It is recommended to replace the brake pad when replacing the brake disc
