What is the most important feature when selecting a bug zapper?
The most important feature is killing grid power. This will determine if it is suitable for suburban or rural application.
A zapper with high capacity killing power is powered from a transformer and produces a continuous zap which will kill more insects.
How does a bug zapper work?
Bug zappers attract light sensitive insects using an ultraviolet (UVA) longwave globe. As light-sensitive insects fly towards the light, they pass through an electrified grid and are zapped.
Does higher globe wattage make the bug zapper more powerful?
No, High globe wattages attract more insects, but the grid voltage is the electricity that will kill them.
Is a high voltage killing grid dangerous?
Bug zapper grids has high voltage but low current. Contact with the grid will result in an electric shock, similar in strength to an electric fence or car battery shock.
This shock will hurt but it is not dangerous for people in good health. Our safe design prevents finger access to live parts.
Is my bug zapper weatherproof?
Yes, this bug zapper is IPX4 weatherproof which means it can be permanently mounted indoors or outdoors. Always make sure the plug connection to the power socket is under cover.
Should I leave a bug zapper on all night?
The longer a bug zapper is left on, the more bugs it will trap. It’s best to turn off outdoor bug zappers at night—there’s no need to continue killing bugs once you’ve come inside. However, it is effective to leave an indoor bug zapper on overnight to kill as many bugs within a room as possible.
