The earliest voice recorder was the first to record sound into a fixed medium. In 1860, 17 years before Thomas Edison invented the phonograph, Paris typesetter and inventor É douard-l é on Scott de martinville invented the voice recorder.
The voice recorder is a very complex and old mechanical equipment. Its basic principle is to put a film at the end of the barrel made of plaster of Paris. Its vibration will trigger the iron pen below. The iron pen is pressed on the paper blackened by the oil lamp, and the paper is connected to the rotatable cylinder, and the sound wave will leave a mark on the rotating paper. Scott did record the sound, but he failed to restore it. He regarded the machine as an automatic dictation device, which people can read through their eyes. These sketches have been "silent" for a century and a half.
