The various mic patterns add versatility here. That the mic can also record in stereo mode is impressive: The Yeti X is a terrific tool for recording environmental/room sounds or background audio for podcasts, or recording a musical instrument or group in stereo.The internal damping the Yeti X employs keeps plosives to a minimum. Some users will still want to use a pop filter, which is never a bad idea, but the Yeti X doesn't ship with one. That's a bit of a bummer considering much of the competition does, but the Yeti X's grille-and-internal foam combo does a solid job in its own right.
