Abnormality in seal

1. State: Deterioration (hardening, cracks)

Cause: 1. lncompatible with the oil used

2. degradation of the oil used

3. Abnormal rise of the oil temperature

4. Degradation from ozone

5. High-speed actuation (large heat generation)

Countermeasure: Change the seal material to one excellent in oil resistance, heat resistance, and weather resistance.

2. State: Swelling

Cause: 1. lncompatible with the oil used

2. Mixing of a foreign liquid such as cleaning solution

Countermeasure: Change seal material

3. State: Wear (mirror surface, striation, biased abrasion)

Cause:1. Excessive minimum pressure on the sliding surface

2. Long continuous pressure appliion time

3. Extremely short strokes

4. Excessive eccentricity (inappropriate bearing)

5. lnappropriate roughness of the contacting surface

6. lnsufficient lubriion ability of the oil used Countermeasuer for causes 1, 2, 3 : Change shape of the seal (for example, sharp lip-Rlip), Change seal material to one excellent in self-lubriion property.
