Product Description:
Stainless steel strip is a common mill form of stainless steel, most commonly known for being made in a coil shape. It can be made into other shapes such as channels, frames, trim and angles. Manufacturers stock three types of stainless steel strip: heat-treatable, non-heat-treatable and pre-hardened.
Stainless steel strip goes through several production processes including slitting, edging, annealing, shearing, polishing, tempering and custom finishing to ensure its tailored to fit the desired application. It can also be hot rolled which is generally the same process but done at temperatures above recrystallization temperature.
The most commonly used stainless steel grades for making bars are 304 and 316. These are part of the 300 series of austenitic stainless steel which are considered useful in mild, harsh and corrosive environments, as well as being non-magnetic.
