The Masoneilan 78-40 is a compact, lightweight, high-performance pressure reducing valve designed for industrial process control applications. This filter regulator provides a stable air supply source for critical control equipment with a pressure range of 5-100 psi.
Primary Applications
This regulator is primarily used for supplying stable compressed air to process control equipment including:

Operating Principle
Rotation of the pressure setting knob compresses the range spring against the diaphragm plate, opening the main supply valve. As outlet pressure increases, it flows through the aspirator and acts on the lower side of the diaphragm, creating upward movement until it balances the range spring force.
This balanced condition maintains constant output pressure despite changes in supply pressure and output load. If output pressure rises above the set pressure, the relief valve opens and bleeds excess pressure to atmosphere. The system also includes protection against contamination - if foreign substances lodge under the inlet valve seat causing increased outlet pressure, the additional pressure on the diaphragm activates the relief valve to safely vent excess air.
