1. Function and Purpose

Its core function is to support and guide the cold planer's conveyor belt, ensuring its smooth and efficient operation.

Support Function: Installed at the bottom of the conveyor frame, it supports the return side of the conveyor belt, preventing excessive sagging due to the weight of the belt and material, and maintaining the proper shape of the belt.

Guiding Function: Through its precise installation position and ability to rotate freely, it helps correct the tracking of the conveyor belt, preventing belt misalignment and ensuring material is accurately conveyed to the discharge point.

Friction Reduction: By replacing sliding friction with rolling friction, it significantly reduces the resistance during belt operation, lowering power consumption and reducing belt wear.

2. Location

This support roller is installed on the frame of the loader conveyor system of the PM620 cold planer, beneath the return side of the conveyor belt (the side that does not carry material and returns from the head to the tail). Typically, multiple such rollers are arranged at intervals to form a support system.

3. Key Features

High Wear Resistance: This is its most prominent feature. The roller is typically made of high-strength, wear-resistant steel tube and may be covered with a wear-resistant coating (such as rubber lagging). The bearing housing is also robustly designed to withstand severe abrasion and impact from asphalt debris, dust, and continuous operation.

Smooth Rotation: Equipped with high-quality, sealed ball bearings inside, ensuring flexible and low-resistance rotation even under heavy loads and in dusty, harsh environments.

Corrosion Resistance: The surface is usually treated with anti-rust protection (such as galvanizing or powder coating) to cope with humid outdoor working conditions.

Wear Part: Although highly wear-resistant, it remains a wear part in the conveyor system. As usage time increases, the roller surface will wear down, and bearings will gradually fail, requiring regular inspection and replacement to prevent damage to the conveyor belt or conveyor system failure.
