BaF2 scintillator has excellent scintillation properties and optical transmission over wide spectrum range. It’s regarded as the fastest scintillators so far. The fast component can be used to measure time precisely and obtain good time resolution, it has been pursued as a promising scintillator in the research of positron annihilation. It shows excellent radiation hardness up to 106 rad or even more.
