Pleated packs, also known as extended area screens, are manufactured with multiple layers of lightweight compacted wire cloth, woven to precision, that assists in avoiding clogs and possible damages that unwanted particles present. Material type, pleat spacing, and pleat height are carefully determined during a consultation process, as is the viscosity, flow rate, pressure drop, and desired pack life. Pleated packs provide greater surface area than flat screen packs, as well as the ability to filter finer contaminates without compromising filter life.Non-woven felts and wire cloths can be pleated to increase the filtration area and pack life.
