Each type offers distinct performance advantages in CNC machining applications.
Carbon Steel Types and Applications
- Low-carbon steel (<0.25%): Excellent ductility and plasticity, ideal for forming and welding. Used for structural components like thin plates and steel pipes.
- Medium-carbon steel (0.25%-0.60%): Balanced strength and toughness, perfect for mechanical parts, shafts, and connectors.

CNC Machining Technical Parameters
Cutting Speed and Spindle Speed
For turning and milling operations on carbon steel parts, we typically use cutting speeds of 100-250 m/min based on material type and tool selection.
Feed Rate
To achieve optimal processing results, we select appropriate feed rates. For turning operations with a feed rate per tooth of 0.2mm/tooth, the feed rate reaches approximately 958.4 mm/min while maintaining excellent cutting stability.
Cutting Depth
Based on part complexity and size requirements, cutting depth is typically adjusted between 1-5mm. This ensures both processing efficiency and superior surface quality.
