The power slip is designed and manufactured according to the requirements of API Spec 7k. It is a kind of equipment for lifting and lowering pipe strings such as drill pipes and casings in oil and gas drilling operations. Power slips can be divided into hydraulic slips, pneumatic slips, etc.

The hydraulic slip is a mechanized device placed inside the turntable and operated by hydraulic control. It is mainly used for the clamping operation of drill pipe, casing and other pipe strings, and realizes the mechanization of wellhead operation. The hydraulic slip is characterized in that it is composed of a main body, a slip body, a lifting mechanism, a control mechanism and a guide plate. The slip is a four-piece 360° fully enclosed structure to ensure that the pipe string is evenly stressed and not deformed. A hoisting mechanism composed of four square liquid cylinders is evenly designed around the slips along the center to ensure large and evenly distributed hoisting force.

The hydraulic slip body is designed with an anti-twist boss, which can withstand a maximum torque of 35,000ft•lbs. The previous manual slips and pneumatic slips on the market could not bear the torque, and a limit switch is designed in the hydraulic slip body. , When the slip is lowered and contacts the contact of the travel switch, the holding force of the slip is increased, and the holding is more reliable.

The hydraulic slip can be operated remotely, which improves the mechanization of the wellhead tool operation, effectively reduces the labor intensity of workers, and improves the efficiency of tripping operations in drilling and workover operations. The operation is carried out in the room, away from the wellhead, which improves the safety of the operation; overcomes the shortcomings of manual slips, which are labor-intensive and low-efficiency.
