A double layer CTP (Computer-to-Plate) plate is a specialized printing plate used in offset printing, created using CTP technology for direct digital image transfer without traditional film-based processes.
The plate consists of two distinct layers: a photosensitive photopolymer coating that reacts to UV light, and a substrate base layer providing stability and support.
During production, the plate is exposed to UV light through a digital imaging system, selectively hardening the photopolymer material in image areas while unexposed regions remain soft and soluble.
After exposure, a development process using chemical solution removes unexposed areas, leaving only hardened image areas ready for offset printing.
Double layer CTP plates offer higher image quality, sharper details, improved registration accuracy, faster production, and reduced costs compared to traditional film-based plates.
