What is annealed tubing?
What is annealed tubing? Annealed tubing has been heat-treated to remove internal stresses and increase
ductility. In short, the annealing process softens the tube relative to cold worked (or “hard tempered”) tubing.
300 series stainless steel anneals at a temperature of 1900 degrees Fahrenheit minimum.
Why is pickling done in stainless steel?
Pickling of stainless steel is the cleaning of a metal surface where actual metal removal is the result in order to
remove heavy oxide films (like welding remediation efforts). Pickling causes etching of the surface and will affect
the surface finish.
