Surface Grade and Process of 430 Stainless Steel

Surface grade

430/2B stainless steel is only one of the surface treatment states of 430 stainless steel. The status of 430 stainless steel is different, and its resistance to dirt and corrosion is also different. There are a total of the following statuses:

No.1, 1D, 2D, 2B, N0.4, HL, BA, Mirror, and various other surface treatment states.

Characteristics and processing technology

1D - The surface has discontinuous particles, also known as a fog surface. Processing process: hot rolling+annealing shot peening pickling+cold rolling+annealing pickling.

2D - Slightly shiny silver white. Processing process: hot rolling+annealing shot peening pickling+cold rolling+annealing pickling.

2B - Silver white and better gloss and flatness than 2D surfaces. Processing process: hot rolling+annealing shot peening pickling+cold rolling+annealing pickling+quenching and tempering rolling.

BA - Excellent surface gloss with high reflectivity, like a mirror surface. Processing process: hot rolling+annealing shot peening pickling+cold rolling+annealing pickling+surface polishing+quenching and tempering rolling.

No.3 - Good gloss and rough surface texture. Processing technology: polishing, tempering, and rolling 2D or 2B products using 100 to 120 abrasive materials (JIS R6002).

No. 4 - Good gloss and fine surface texture. Processing technology: polishing, tempering and rolling 2D or 2B products with 150~180 abrasive materials (JIS R6002).

HL - Silver gray with hair stripes. Processing technology: Polish the 2D or 2B products with an appropriate particle size abrasive material to make the surface appear continuous grinding lines.
