ODEX is an adaptation of the air-operated down-the-hole hammer that uses a swing-out eccentric bit to ream the bottom of the casing. Cuttings blow up through the drive sub and casing annulus to a swivel conducting them to a sample collector or onto the ground, enabling rapid removal of cuttings.
The Casing Advancer allows drilling and casing to be carried out simultaneously as one integral operation. This eliminates the need to drill the large diameter hole with a Rock Bit, pull the drill rod string and Rock Bit from the hole, and then ream the casing back into the hole.
