Introduction of Clamp

A clamp is a core component in the vacuum pipeline of a helium mass spectrometer leak detector, used for the rapid connection and sealing of two vacuum flanges. It is typically made of austenitic stainless steel, and its length is determined by the size of the flanges it connects, with no fixed value.

Function of the Clamp

The function of the clamp is highly specialized and critical, serving as the core component for achieving fast and reliable vacuum connections:
Providing Uniform Clamping Force:
By tightening the nut (or central bolt) on the clamp, the clamp contracts evenly, pressing the two O-ring-sealed vacuum flanges tightly together. This uniform force ensures the O-ring is fully compressed, creating an all-around reliable vacuum seal.
Enabling Rapid Installation and Disassembly:
Compared to traditional bolted flanges that require tightening multiple bolts one by one, clamp connections typically only require tightening one or two nuts, significantly improving the assembly, maintenance, and modification efficiency of the vacuum system.
Standardized and Modular Connectivity:
The clamp is the core component of internationally recognized vacuum quick-connection standards (such as KF/QF, ISO-K). It allows vacuum components (e.g., pumps, valves, gauges, chambers) from different manufacturers to be quickly and easily integrated into a complete system.
