309/309S Stainless Steel Plates Overview
Types 309 and 309S are austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steels offering exceptional corrosion resistance, heat resistance, and good strength at both room and elevated temperatures. Type 309S features a lower carbon content that minimizes carbide precipitation and enhances weldability. These grades are essentially non-magnetic when annealed and become slightly magnetic when cold worked.
