what is 317/317L Stainless Steel Plate
317/317L Stainless Steel Plate is a chromium-nickel molybdenum alloy stainless steel plate. It is a higher-end version of 316 stainless steel and has improved corrosion resistance due to its higher molybdenum content. It is also more resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion than 316 stainless steel.
317 stainless steel plates are often used for applications that require superior corrosion resistance, such as in chemical processing, petrochemical, and marine applications. Compared to 316 stainless steel, 317 stainless steel offers higher creep, stress-to-rupture, and tensile strength at elevated temperatures. Additionally, 317 stainless steel has higher chloride ion corrosion resistance than 316 stainless steel, making it especially resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments.
