Corten A Steel Description
Corten A Steel is a hot rolled weathering steel with improved atmospheric corrosion resistance in technical delivery conditions,commonly used in architecture and art decoration.
Corten A Steel mainly composed of iron, carbon, silicon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur and copper,and adding copper, chromium, nickel and other weathering elements make the Corten A material form a dense oxide layer between the rust layer and the substrate,which prevent the steel from further corrosion,the corrosion resistance is higher than that of ordinary carbon steel.The steel grade Corten A is according to ASTM standard which with the yield strength of 355MPa and the tensile strength of 470-630MPa.
Weather Resistant Steel is a kind of low alloy series steel falling in between common steel and stainless steel.The top layer of the material reacts with atmospheric elements to form a rust coloured protective layer,prevents the infiltration of oxygen and water in the atmosphere into the steel matrix, slowing down the development of rust to the depth of the steel material, improving the resistance to atmospheric corrosion, which not only makes the steel virtually maintenance free but also provides a pleasing and consistent finish.Atmospheric corrosion resistance is 2~5 times that of ordinary carbon steel.
