SPA-H Steel Description

SPA-H Steel is a type of low alloy high strength structural weathering steel with a high content of phosphorous,minimum yield strength of 350MPa.SPA-H is in accordance with JIS G3125 specification, which is a Japanese standard for superior atmospheric corrosion resisting steel,has good mechanical properties such as high tensile strength, yield strength, stable elongation, and more.

SPA-H Steel weathering refers to the chemical composition of these steels, allowing them to exhibit increased resistance to atmospheric corrosion compared to other steels. This is because the steel forms a protective layer on its surface under the influence of the weather.

The corrosion retarding effect of the protective layer is produced by the particular distribution and concentration of alloying elements in it. As a result, the layer protecting the surface develops and regenerates continuously when subjected to the influence of the weather. In other words, the steel rusts to form the protective coating.

Weathering steel is characterized by its ability to form a protective rust layer in the natural environment,to prevent further corrosion. This type of weathering steel is designed to reduce or eliminate the need for coating and maintenance, and is particularly suitable for structures exposed to the outside environment.

Weather Resistant Steel is a kind of low alloy series steel falling in between common steel and stainless steel.The top layer of the material reacts with atmospheric elements to form a rust coloured protective layer,prevents the infiltration of oxygen and water in the atmosphere into the steel matrix, slowing down the development of rust to the depth of the steel material, improving the resistance to atmospheric corrosion, which not only makes the steel virtually maintenance free but also provides a pleasing and consistent finish.Atmospheric corrosion resistance is 2~5 times that of ordinary carbon steel.
