316 316L Pipe Description
316/316L is molybdenum-bearing austenitic stainless steel,with 2-3% molybdenum content,which improves the 316/316L alloys corrosion resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments.The higher nickel and molybdenum content in this grade allows it to demonstrate better overall corrosion resistant properties than 304, especially with regard to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments.
316L is a low-carbon version of 316 stainless steel, belongs to the 300 series stainless steel.It does not precipitate due to carbides at the grain boundaries,which means it is not susceptible to sensitization.The 'L' indicates 316L Stainless Steel is a low carbon version of Grade 316,which minimizes carbide precipitation due to welding,thereby avoids the problem of intergranular corrosion.
316L is a molybdenum-containing stainless steel, containing 2%-3% molybdenum,properties is better than 310 and 304 stainless steel. Under high temperature conditions, when the concentration of sulfuric acid is lower than 15% or higher than 85%, 316L stainless steel has a wide range of applications. 316L stainless steel also has good resistance to chloride corrosion,widely used in marine environments.
