1. Descriptions:

Guar gum is a vegetable gum that can be extracted from the fruit of carob trees and guar beans. After peeling, the mature guar beans are sent to a grinding plant, where they are thermochemically separated into endosperm flakes, germ and skin. The germ is often used as animal feed with high protein content. The endosperm flakes are processed into guar gum in a grinding mill.

As a papermaking additives, cationic guar gum can effectively improve retention and significantly increase the retention rate of filler. It has no significant impact on the evenness of paper and does not affect the dehydration.

Guar gum has the enhancement effect in the pulp, and also has the good retention and filtration effect. Adding guar gum to pulp can promote the formation of bridging between fibers and between fibers and fillers, increase the bonding area and bonding strength between each other, and form a complex flocculation system. In this way, the fine fibers and fillers will be more flocculated, adsorption and sandwiched between the larger fibers, thereby improving the retention rate and increasing the strength of the paper.
