Hydroxypropyl guar gum is a non-ionic natural polymer modified from guar bean, which has a natural affinity with skin. Caused by irritation from some surfactants, skin may become stiff, rough and cracked. Synerguar polymers protect skin in two ways: first, by lowering the critical micelle concentration to reduce the availability of free surfactant monomer; second, as polymer is adsorbed to skin surface, it reduces the area available for the free surfactant monomer to interact with skin. The consequence is less skin irritation.

When skin products were supplemented with Synerguar polymers, they help skin restore pH buffering capacity more quickly.
