What is difference between SKD11 and D2?
Due to the different vanadium V content of the wear-resistant zinc alloy, D2 has better wear resistance than SKD11. The hardenability is different. The hardenability of D2 material is higher than SKD11. D2 mold steel for large molds has more uniform core hardness and surface hardness.
What is D2 steel equivalent to?
D2 steel equivalent Cr12MoV, is China standard cold work tool steel. Cr12MoV is equivalent for DIN 1.2379, AISI D2, JIS SKD11, and grade K110. Many customer purchase OTAI Steel supplied Cr12MoV as D2 steel equivalent, main reason is Cr12MoV have similar chemical composition and performance, but price is much cheaper.
