4. Zearalenone Rapid Mycotoxin Testing Kits Principle

Zearalenone (ZEN) rapid test strips are based on the principle of competitive inhibition immunochromatography. During the flow process, the zearalenone in the sample binds to the zearalenone-specific colloidal gold-labeled monoclonal antibody, which inhibits the binding of the antibody to the ZEN-BSA conjugate on the detection line of the NC membrane, resulting in discoloration of the detection line.
When no zearalenone remains in the sample or the concentration is below the detection limit, the T line is darker or the same color than the C line. When the concentration is at or above the detection limit, the T-line is significantly lighter than the C-line or the T-line is not visible. The C line appears regardless of whether zearalenone remains in the sample, indicating that the test is valid.
